Automation

Two processes, one case

For an online store, an exchange is legally and financially a return plus a new order. It used to mean tracking stock, overpayments, amounts due and manual credit notes. Retino brings it all together into a single case and handles it in the background.

Return of the original items

Label and pickup are generated automatically

New order in the online store

It’s created instantly and the items are reserved right away

Documents with no manual work

Credit note for the return, invoice for the new order.

Configuration

Exchanges on your terms

Decide for yourself how exchanges work in your online store.

Choose product categories

Customers can only exchange for in-stock items in a specific category.

Handle product pricing

If the price has gone up since, you can keep it the same for the customer.

Reserve the new items

The reservation happens instantly, so the items won’t sell out in the meantime.

Product categories

You decide what can be exchanged

Some items shouldn't be exchanged, for hygiene reasons for example. Set your own rules by category: one for what customers can exchange, and one for what you offer in the free catalogue selection.

Why turn on exchanges

Exchanges help you keep both the customer and the revenue. Instead of a refund, you offer a better solution that works for both sides.

Money stays with you

Instead of a refund, the customer picks something else and you keep the revenue from the original order.

Higher order value

An exchange bonus encourages customers to buy a pricier product. A return becomes a chance to grow revenue.

Less manual work

The return and the new order are recorded automatically. No manual re-entering, no mistakes.

Fewer support queries

A self-service portal guides the customer step by step. Support doesn't have to handle anything by hand.

Everything under control

Rules for stock, pricing and categories. Customers only exchange for what you actually want to offer.

Happy customer

Easy exchange, happy customer. They get what they wanted and return next time.

Frequently asked questions

On their own and online, through the self-service portal. They pick what they’re returning, choose a replacement variant or anything from the catalogue, and can add something extra if they like. The whole thing takes a few clicks, whenever it suits them, with no need to contact support.

Yes. You set the rules by category — one for items allowed for exchange (same product, different variant) and one for the free catalogue selection. Sensitive categories like underwear are simply excluded from exchange. You can also limit exchanges to in-stock items only.

If you want to meet the customer halfway, you can set the price to stay the same even if the item has gone up in the meantime. If they’ve added a pricier item to the order, they pay the difference right away in the new order. If it’s cheaper, they choose how you refund the difference. They see both any amount due and any refund before completing the exchange.

It’s a way to encourage the customer to pick another product instead of a refund — even a pricier one. You set the bonus as a percentage of the price or a fixed amount. That turns a return into a chance for higher revenue rather than a loss.
